Shmoop Launches New Learning Guides, Online Courses

Schmoop's Shakespeare in Modern English guide

Online publisher Shmoop has launched new learning guides, online courses and test prep resources to start the upcoming school year.

Among the new resources is Shakespeare in Modern English as well as guides to historical texts and speeches designed to help students get more out of primary sources.

Shmoop's test prep tools include unlimited access to drill questions, practice exams, diagnostic exams and test-taking tips. Teaching guides feature activity ideas, questions for discussion, shout-outs to popular culture, notes about challenges and opportunities about teaching the particular subject written by other teachers, handouts and comprehension quizzes. Learning guides cover subjects from math to career skills and the company offers 300 online courses tackling K-12 credit recovery to college credit.

"Allowing students to work through content at their own pace, Shmoop will allow me to create a blended classroom, one that brings us together to discuss common topics or for me to present new material," said Elisabeth Hardy, a teacher at North Augusta High School, in a prepared statement. "Students can then work alone to reach a common goal, and I can use student progress and assessments to discern which students need remediation and which need additional challenge in certain areas."

Individual users can access all of Shmoop's resources for a subscription of $24.68 per month. Bulk discounts are available for schools and districts. For more information, visit the Shmoop site.
