Cloud-based K–12 software provider PowerSchool has signed an agreement to acquire SchoolMessenger from its parent company, West Technology Group, for $300 million and plans to integrate SchoolMessenger’s features with the PowerSchool Student Information Cloud platform, according to a news release.

FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel formally announced a proposal that would create a $200 million, three-year pilot program to help pay for data and information security services in K–12 schools and in libraries.
Digital learning tool Lumio has added integration with visual communication platform Canva for Education. Educators will have free access to export Canva materials to Lumio to create interactive lessons, activities, and assessments, and also free access to both the Lumio and Canva libraries, Lumio said.

Epson has introduced the PowerLite 810E, its first 3LCD extreme short-throw lamp-free laser display with 4K enhancement technology. The display features 5,000 lumens of color and white brightness for sharp, glare-free viewing. It can also create an 80-inch to 160-inch image from a short distance.

Autodesk has released a new feature for Tinkercad, the company's free, web-based 3D design app for use in classrooms. Called Sim Lab, the new tool allows students to "apply STEM principles and experiment with their 3D designs in a simulated space — similar to a video game. Students can simulate the effects of gravity on their design, add materials (like rubber, wood, plastic) to an object, and even build simple machines. Sim Lab draws inspiration from children's favorite video games, like Minecraft and Roblox, bringing the excitement of gaming into the design experience."
