Explorer Adds Assessment Tool

Explorer 3.0 CD, from LOGAL, is an open, simulation-based learning environment based on the disk-based program Science Explorer 3.0. Using the CD-ROM format enabled LOGAL to put everything on screen -- simulations and tools; instructions and guidance; and documentation and reference materials. In order to manage this massive amount of data, they constructed a graphic multimedia navigation screen where video hosts, hypertext, animation and audio provide a common interface and make the programs easy to use. The program's newest addition is the Student Portfolio, an assessment tool that provides on-screen answer recording and checking, and gives teachers the ability to follow students' progress.
