Digital Video Decks Are "Next Generation"

Panasonic has expanded its DVCPRO component digital product line, adding the AJ-D650 studio editing deck and AJ-D640 recorder/player. Both VTRs offer analog input/output, digital input/output and versatile interfacing via RS-422A and RS-232C remote. The AJ-D650 supports frame accurate editing, insert/assemble/split editing, digital slow motion and digital still playback. 

Each unit provides two hours of component digital recording and VITC/LTC time code recording/playback, accommodating both program production and broadcasting needs. They also can play back tapes recorded in the DV and DVCAM formats. An IEEE 1394 "Firewire" interface is optional. 

Other highlights are 16-bit digital audio channels, FF and REW at 100x normal speed and searching at 60x normal speed.
