Upgrade to A.D.A.M Merits a New Name

A major upgrade to A.D.A.M. Comprehensive released Dec. 96 is based on two years of research and user feedback. So much has been enhanced that the program warrants a new name -- A.D.A.M. Interactive Anatomy 3.0.

The new edition comprises three primary components. Its anatomy database of images includes fully dissectible male and female bodies, plus new content. The "engine" lets one perform layer-by-layer dissection, point-and-click ID of 18,000+ structures, and also supplies many search, indexing and cross-referencing functions.

Slide Show, a third part, really distinguishes the new version. This authoring and annotation tool facilitates creation of interactive lessons and courseware using A.D.A.M. imagery, while retaining the full interactivity of the whole program. Creations can be distributed via diskette, network or the Internet.

New content found in Interactive Anatomy 3.0's image database includes detailed 3D models from the Visible Human dataset, plus 400+ supplemental "pinned image" illustrations and cadaver pro-section photos.

Among highlights are improved performance; a simpler, more powerful user interface; ability to view multiple anatomy windows at once for comparisons; HTML support; and netowrk sharing of images. Dissectible anatomy images have all been revised and enhanced for accuracy per review by a team of anatomists; images are also 50% larger. A.D.A.M.
