AT&T Pledges $250,000 To Private Colleges

AT&T has pledged $250,000 in grants to private colleges affiliated with the Foundation for Independent Higher Education (FIHE), in Chicago, Ill. The AT&T Learning Network and Technology Grants will provide up to $50,000 for collaborative projects that encourage the use of interactive technology to enhance teaching and learning, increase efficiencies and reduce costs.

The grants support FIHE's Partnership for Private Colleges, a four-year, $16 million initiative born out of the growing public concern over the cost of higher education. "FIHE is delighted to be administering these grants due to their potential impact on not only the college student, but the K-12 student and college education curriculum as well," said FIHE President Carole B. Whitcomb.

Founded in 1958, the Foundation for Independent Higher Education works on behalf of 38 state and regional independent college funds and their affiliated 634 private colleges and universities. To date, AT&T has donated over $15.5 million through FIHE and its state funds.
