American Journey Collection Gives Insight to Civil Rights

Civil Rights in the United States is the thirteenth CD-ROM title in the acclaimed historical research series American Journey: History in Your Hands. The program gives students unique insight into the origins and the current state of American civil rights.

Civil Rights in the United States features rare primary source materials organized around thematic essays. Students can access documents, images, picture albums, maps, time lines and content lists, and conduct full-text searches. Primary source materials give students insight into topics such as free speech, freedom of the press, obscenity laws, freedom of association, right to vote and equal rights. The collection also offers a look at disputed rights, from abortion and gun control to gay rights and the death penalty. A new title to the America Journey collection is added every six months. The online version of each new title is made available via online subscription a month after the CD-ROM is released. The Gale Group, Woodbridge, CT, (800) 877-GALE, www.galegroup.com.
