Appliance Can Guard Against Intellectual Property Theft
Kinnetics from Loran is a network management appliance designed to document networks for faults and performance problems. It automatically detects and supports changes in the network, and is easily updated. The system was installed at the University of South Carolina Spartanburg, where online music theft had become a problem. The program allowed administrators to set a low threshold on dormitory network usage, and allowed the university to monitor data streaming activity and prevent further misuse of the university’s networks. The system provides a complete view of the network, and is designed for ease of use.
