New Platform Delivers Broadband and Narrowband Services

ADC has introduced the new generation of BroadAccess, a multiservice access platform that enables service providers to deliver a robust mix of broadband and narrowband services to clusters of 60 to 2,000 users from a single platform. The new generation expands and integrates more broadband and narrowband capabilities into the product. Within a single-shelf architecture, BroadAccess supports advanced broadband services such as high-speed Internet access over ADSL, voice over DSL (VoDSL), video on demand (VOD) and Virtual Private Network (VPN) services, in addition to narrowband voice and data.

With its integrated SDH fiber-based transmission and ATM Virtual Path ring capability, it enables effective delivery of high-speed services to numerous sites over a unified fiber infrastructure. BroadAccess’ hybrid circuit/packet-based backplane enables service providers to adapt their network to the growing demand for high bit-rate services through the use of plug-in modules, which can provide numerous combinations of broadband and narrowband services. The platform interfaces to virtually any type of local exchange through V5.2/V5.1 digital protocols or 2W connections, and connects to ATM backbones through E1s or STM-1 User Network Interfaces.
