eChalk, a Web-based communication provider for K-12 public, private and parochial schools, announced that it has been named the first Application Service Provider to earn eligibility for federal Education Rate (E-rate) funding. Schools nationwide can utilize federal E-rate funds to subsidize the eChalk system, which uses existing computers as the infrastructure to create a Web-based communications network for students, teachers, parents and school administrators.
