Digital Imaging Cameras: Nikon

Nikon's Coolpix 5700 5-megapixel digital camera features a new 8X Zoom-Nikkor lens with a focal range of 8.9 mm-71.2 mm, which is equivalent to 35 mm-280 mm in the 35 mm format. For even greater magnification, the camera offers 4X digital zoom, taking the focal length to about a 1,132 mm equivalent. And Nikon's advanced image processing algorithm ensures full-color reproduction, while a 256-segment Matrix Metering and Matrix Auto White Balance produce outstanding exposures. The COOLPIX 5700 comes with several user-friendly, advanced features, such as the Electronic ViewFinder, which provides enhanced frame coverage and a bright preview, as well as the Vari-angle LCD, which makes shooting easy regardless of the camera position. When ambient light is insufficient, the intelligent Built-in Speedlight automatically pops up. And checking results is instantaneous with the Quick Review button. In addition, the plug-and-play USB interface lets users send pictures to a computer for easy organization. Nikon Inc., Melville, NY, (631) 547-4200, www.nikon.com.
