Historic Documents Available at National Archive Site

Students and teachers now have an array of historical documents at their fingertips with the creation of OurDocuments.gov (www.ourdocuments.gov). The site, created and maintained by the National Archives and Records Administration and National History Day Inc., has scanned copies of original speeches, treaties, Supreme Court cases, patent designs and other documents that have affected American history. The site was created as part of a history and civics initiative announced by President Bush called “Our Documents: A National Initiative on American History, Civics and Service.” In addition to the documents, the site features history contests that offer scholarships and other awards. Three new documents will be added to the site every week. OurDocuments.gov, www.ourdocuments.gov.
