Editors' Pick: Corel's WordPerfect Office 11

Users of Corel's WordPerfect Office will be pleased with the features in the program's latest version, Office 11, which combines several applications into one with the capability to produce slide shows, spreadsheets and scrapbook pages, as well as traditional word-processing files. Another simplified aspect of the new program is that all of the grammar functions are combined into a single dialogue box, enabling the user to perform several functions at once. In addition, users in need of law-related features will enjoy the "Legal" toolbar, which includes elements from WordPerfect Law Office editions.

This new version also has a "Classic Mode," which reverts to old WordPerfect 5.1 settings - complete with the blue screen and white system typeface, which some users may find more comfortable. It's worth a try just to see how far the program has come. The program is available in Standard, Education and Professional editions. The Education edition starts at $99. In addition, site licenses are available for the Education and Professional editions. Corel Corp., www.corel.com/academic.
