Gateway Informs Underserved Youth About College With 'The Key'

Gateway Inc. and Ember Media have partnered to develop "The Key: An Interactive Guide to Historically Black Colleges and Universities," a CD-ROM that aims to provide underserved youth with information about attending one of more than 100 HBCUs nationwide. Going beyond regular college brochures and campus visits, "The Key" offers a comprehensive database of profiles for more than 100 colleges and universities, including interactive tutorials on how to write admission essays and properly fill out applications. The CD-ROM also features Web links for admissions and financial aid, music downloads and an animated history of the HBCU foundation.

"The Key" is being distributed at schools, clubs and conferences nationwide. Gateway is also distributing the CD-ROM in several of its stores, and has created in-store educational programs and after-school sessions to introduce "The Key." All material on the CD-ROM will also be available as a free download at www.gateway.com. In addition, "The Key" will be distributed to public high schools, middle schools, public libraries, as well as private and foreign schools. To request a copy of "The Key," visit www.thekey1.com or call (888) 538-4455.
