Workstation PolicyShield

Apreo Inc.'s Workstation PolicyShield (www.apreo.com) is a solution that detects files and applications as they are written into the network, rather than after they have been installed. The file-filtering system is able to do this through the incorporation of its WriteWatch protection technology, which detects and removes spyware or other unapproved files at the exact moment they are introduced to the system. Technically speaking, WriteWatch works by terminating the "write" command of unauthorized programs as they try to install themselves on the system. Such technology applies to games, IM, peer-to-peer programs, music, movies and spyware. Other features of Workstation PolicyShield include FileWatch, which detects disguised stored files, and .exeWatch, which monitors the network for the launch of an unauthorized application or spyware.
