Pulaski County Public Schools in Virginia has recently implemented a wide area network aimed at providing enhanced access to a range of district resources including video security, distance learning tools, and other Web-based services.

The district contracted with Conterra Telecom Services for the new WAN deployment. The network spans seven schools, as well as the school board offices, with an eighth building--the new Riverlawn elementary school--to be added upon completion. According to the announcement, a portion of the cost will be offset by funds from the federal E-Rate program.

"We are happy to partner with Pulaski County Schools to bring one of the most advanced wide area broadband networks in Virginia to Pulaski County," said Jason Adkins, Senior Vice President for Conterra, in a prepared statement.

The Pulaski network marks Conterra's 94th WAN deployment in 16 states, with similar Virginia-based E-Rate projects implemented for school districts in Sussex, Essex, Bedford, and Campbell Counties.
