LanSchool Intros Free Classroom Management Tool for Mac and Windows

LanSchool Technologies is introducing new classroom management software free for K-20 institutions in North America. LanSchool Lite, which supports Mac OS X and Windows, is expected to be available this week.

LanSchool Lite enables instructors to monitor the current application, last visited Web site, and battery life of student computers by using thumbnail and detail views of student computers.

LanSchool Technologies has also introduced version 7.4 of the full version of LanSchool. LanSchool 7.4 includes the features mentioned above and also uses a directory security model that stops private browsing on Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Other features of LanSchool 7.4 include keyboard and mouse lockout and the ability to display lessons from the instructor's computer to all student computers.

LanSchool 7.4 will be available as a subscription service for $199 per classroom per year or as a free upgrade to schools that have purchased LanSchool 7.3. Both LanSchool 7.4 and LanSchool Lite are scheduled for release Sept. 1.
