Lexia Reading 7.0 Expands Progress Tracking Tools

Lexia Learning is unveiling Lexia Reading 7.0. The newest version of its reading skill development and assessment suite will debut at ISTE in Denver.
Lexia Reading is split by student age category into three modules: early reading, primary reading, and strategies for older students. Early reading focuses on fundamental pre-reading skills and phonemic awareness for 4- to 6-year-olds and primary reading on text comprehension, word decoding, and vocabulary for 5- to 8-year-olds, while strategies for older students provides more advanced skill lessons for ages 9 and up. Aligned to state standards and designed to be used in response to intervention strategies, Lexia Reading automatically adjusts lesson flow to individual student progress and accommodates special education and English language learners.
The latest release promises to reduce the need for tests and assessments by serving tailored content through new progress tracking tools that measure achievement against national benchmarks and peer performance comparisons.
While the teacher view can be accessed through a Web browser, Lexia Reading student software requires installation on a local drive. It supports Mac OS X and Windows. The product will be demonstrated at the ISTE conference in Denver, CO June 27-30.
