HP Expands Thin Client Lineup, Launches Reference Architecture

HP has announced several new additions to its client virtualization product line: the HP t5335z and t5565z Smart Clients, the HP 6360t Mobile Thin Client, and the HP Client Virtualization Enterprise Reference Architecture.

The HP t5335z and t5565z Smart Clients work with Citrix XenDesktop via HDX, VMware View, or Microsoft Session Virtualization via RDP. No hardware changes are required to migrate from one virtualization solution to another. Both the t5335z and t5565z automatically connect to the HP Smart Client Service, which enables new software infrastructure configurations when the device starts.

The HP 6360t Mobile Thin Client uses the Microsoft Windows Embedded operating system and supports multiple simultaneous environments, such as VDI or session-based desktops. It looks like a traditional notebook, but user data is stored on a centralized server. Its rugged design includes a solid state hard disk, aluminum display enclosure, magnesium-reinforced ABS chassis, and bottom-case drain.

The HP Client Virtualization Enterprise Reference Architecture is a preconfigured solution combining HP hardware with Microsoft Hyper-V for the server and Citrix XenDesktop for the client. This reference architecture is designed to simplify customer integration, testing, and deployment. The solution also includes options for scaling up and out to meet the changing needs of customers.

Key features of the HP t5335z Smart Client:

  • Marvell ARM Armada 510 1 GHz chipset with integrated graphics;
  • Full-screen 1080p HDX multimedia in Citrix environments; and
  • Power usage under 5 watts when idle.

Key features of the HP t5565z Smart Client:

  • Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) Gold designation;
  • Native dual-digital display support;
  • Superscalar VIA Nano U3500 CPU; and
  • VX900 integrated graphics processor.

Key features of the HP 6360t Mobile Client:

The HP t5335z Smart Client will be available in July with a starting price of $199. The HP t5565z Smart Client will be available in August with a starting price of $249. The HP 6360t Mobile Thin Client will be available in June with a starting price of $249. Further information about HP thin client products can be found here.
