Nebraska District Shifts to Web-based Payroll To Reduce Costs

Bennington Public Schools (BPS) in Bennington, NE has made the move to the Web for payroll and accounting in an effort to save money for the district.

BPS has implemented AptaFund 4, a Web-based software-as-a-service tool from Harris School Solutions, a provider of educational software for the K-12 and adult education markets.

The newly adopted software will manage a number of different functions for the district relating to payroll and accounting.

Key features of AptaFund 4 include:

  • Budget development assistance;
  • Human resource management;
  • Payroll management;
  • Purchasing with Web-enabled request-to-process;
  • Vendor management;
  • Accounts payable tracking;
  • Security safeguards;
  • Over 120 pre-defined reports;
  • An ability to create customized reports;
  • Transaction auditing from source backward through AptaTrace; and
  • Autofill of account codes with AptaFund Account Code Assistant.

The adoption of AptaFund by Bennington continues a relationship that began with previous implementations of Harris School Solutions products such as Attendance Enterprise to manage employee time and attendance as well as AAWeb, a Web-based system for activity accounting.

"Attendance Enterprise definitely has cut the time of having to manually add up time cards, and has eliminated the risk of error in manually figuring hours. I really like the deposit function in AAWeb, which was not included in previous software," said Bennington district bookkeeper Lynne Lurvey.

Comprising three separate schools, BPS is based in Douglas County, northwest of Omaha, NE and serves approximately 1,450 students.
