A new app from Ken-A-Vision will let classrooms share live-feed images from the company's document cameras and microscopes to iPad and Android tablets.

The cloud-based app, EduCam, uses existing wi-fi networks to stream live images from Ken-A-Vision and FlexCam document cameras and digital microscopes to multiple devices at once. Tablet users can then capture, save, and send images from the device’s central image gallery.

Additional features include pinch to zoom, touch to scroll, and various annotation tools such as drawing, text, and arrow stamps.

“As the one-to-one and BYOD movements have grown, we’ve noticed a significant increase in the demand for cross-platform mobile apps specifically designed for the classroom,” said Steve Dunn, President of Ken-A-Vision in a statement.

The app is currently available via the App store; the Android version is awaiting release.
