Albuquerque Upgrades Textbook Management System
Albuquerque Public Schools has replaced its
former textbook inventory system with a real-time, Web-based textbook and
instructional materials management system.
The large district owns more than half a million textbooks and other
instructional materials. Keeping track of those books and materials with the
district's old inventory system required time-consuming, manual processes.
"We've had gaps in inventory data across the district," said Rachel Altobelli,
manager for Library Services and Instructional Materials, in a prepared
statement. "What we were missing was a comprehensive, real-time textbook and
instructional materials management system that makes inventory management
easier, less time consuming and more accurate."
The district selected
TIPWeb-IM from Hayes Software Systems as its new inventory management
system. TIPWeb-IM can track books, as well as supplementary materials and
digital resources at both the district and campus levels.
According to the company, TIPWeb-IM will enable the district to manage
inventory with fewer resources, track textbook data in real-time and close its
current inventory management gaps. The district expects the system to lower
textbook management expenses and support cost-effective inventory acquisition
decisions. "Hayes will also provide system integration, physical inventory
services, client engagement services, and aid the district in ongoing
performance evaluation and monitoring of processes and efficiencies," stated
information from the company.
Albuquerque Public Schools is the largest school district in New Mexico,
serving 89,000 students in 140 schools located in both urban and rural areas.
