Acer Shows Off New Models for Ed and Esports

Acer has introduced new additions to its Chromebook, Windows and esports lines.

At one price extreme, the ConceptD 7, available now, is intended for power-hungry creative users, including graphic design, film and photo editing and shoutcasting. The device runs a 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics processor. The 4K ultra high-definition, 15.6-inch display incorporates 100 percent Adobe RGB, validated color fidelity from PANTONE and true-to-life color accuracy of Delta E <2. The unit runs Windows 10 Home and comes with 32 gigabytes of RAM and a terabyte of SSD storage. It's priced at around $3,700.

The Predator Triton 500, intended for esports playing, sports a 15.6-inch NVIDIA G-SYNC monitor, a 300 nits display with a 144Hz refresh rate; an overclockable NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU built to Nvidia's Max-Q design and a 9th Gen Intel Core i7-9750H processor. Pricing starts at $1,699.

At the other price extreme, the Chromebook 871 was designed specifically for the K-12 education segment. Among the device's features are a reinforced hinge, a bumper, mechanically anchored keys and a spill-resistant keyboard to hold up under student use. The unit's durability is built to military-caliber 810G standards. It runs the 10th Gen Intel Core processors and has a 12-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio for extra vertical viewing space. The Chromebook 871 is expected to be available in North America in March, starting at $330.

The convertible TravelMate Spin B3 and clamshell TravelMate B3 also comply with military standard 810G and can run up to 12 hours on a single charge. Both units are expected to be available in April. The Spin B3 is priced starting at $330, the B3 at $240.
