Teacher Training and Staffing Firm University Instructors Buys PD Provider PrepForward

University Instructors, a provider of K–12 learning, training, and staffing services, has acquired PrepForward, a Boston-based provider of online K–12 teacher certification prep and professional development, UI said in a news release.

The acquisition strengthens UI’s capacity to help U.S. school districts overcome obstacles exacerbating the ongoing teacher shortage, according to the announcement. UI is owned by Public Consulting Group; terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Since its founding in 2007, PrepForward has helped teachers pass certification exams, prepare for classroom roles, and thrive throughout their careers. Its programs are used by K–12 districts, universities, state education agencies, and alternative certification programs across the country, UI said. PrepForward Founder Mary Stephens will join UI and help expand the company’s services supporting teachers, according to the announcement.
