Raptor Technologies Acquires SchoolPass, Will Integrate Its Attendance and Dismissal Automation Features

School safety software provider Raptor Technologies has acquired SchoolPass and will integrate the latter’s cloud-based attendance automation and dismissal automation into the Raptor Tech platform, according to a news release. 

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. 

Raptor, which provides integrated visitor, volunteer, emergency management, and safety software and services to thousands of U.S. school districts, touted the addition of SchoolPass’s “revolutionary” carline and school dismissal automation technologies, which use license plate recognition, RFID, and GPS with workflow automation software to make those processes more efficient. For example, teachers and staff can use real-time location information to dismiss students from the classroom when their ride arrives, according to the announcement.

Other benefits of the automation technologies include automated screening of vehicles arriving on campus, less front office work for visitor management and attendance-taking, and real-time updates on schedule changes for student transportation and after-school activities, reads the SchoolPass website.

The attendance automation features allow students check in to each class period themselves using a QR code, barcode, or RFID tag, providing real-time, school-wide insight into who is on campus and where they were last located, the company said. 

SchoolPass Founder and CEO Mark Ruiters has joined Raptor as its new chief strategy officer, according to the news release.

Raptor did not specify when the SchoolPass features would be available to its users, or how the acquisition may impact current SchoolPass users.
