Free 'AI 101 for Teachers' Training Series Launched by Code.org, ETS, ISTE, and Khan Academy

A five-part free video series called "AI 101 for Teachers" kicked off this month from partners Code.org, ETS (Educational Testing Service), ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education), and Khan Academy. Two videos are available now, with three more coming soon. Free replays are also available at any time.

The series focuses on explaining what AI is, how it works, how to use it responsibly, and how it can be used in teaching, especially in freeing up teachers' time from routine administrative tasks.

The series opens with an introductory fireside chat between Khan Academy founder Sal Khan and Code.org CEO Hadi Partovi. The two discuss what AI is and why it is important to education; what educators think of it; whether students using it are cheating; what issues surround bias, privacy, and other challenges; and where they see AI going in the next five to 10 years. Other concerns are noted as well.

The series continues with professional development videos on:

  • How AI Works (available now): two videos on large language models and generative AI;

  • Demystifying AI for Educators: foundational knowledge and practical insights into using AI in education;

  • Transforming Learning with AI: AI and pedagogy combined to aid student learning;

  • Ensuring a Responsible Approach to AI: ethical considerations and best practices with solid strategies for addressing them;

  • Bringing AI to the Classroom: evaluating and using AI tools for student assessment.

"As part of our mission to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere, we believe it's important to provide professional learning opportunities for K–12 teachers," said Khan. "AI is the biggest disrupter facing education today. The 'AI 101 for Teachers' series provides an easily digestible introduction to AI and sets the stage for continued professional development."
