Discovery Education Offers Free PD Resources for Educators

Discovery Education has introduced a number of free professional development resources to help teachers of all experience levels integrate digital resources into their instruction. The content is available to Discovery Education Experience users via the Professional Learning NOW channel.

Offered on demand in bite-sized pieces, the resources address instructional practices in three key topic areas:

  • AR/VR: Made available in partnership with Verizon, these resources provide information, techniques, and teaching strategies focused on engaging students with immersive technology in the classroom.
  • Health and Wellness: Made available by Operation Prevention, a program created in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, this on-demand webinar covers the most common forms of substance misuse and how to communicate with students about them.
  • Literacy: This series of "microlearnings," created with the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and the National Afterschool Association, covers new ways to teach literacy essentials.

"Teachers are learners, too. As a former educator, I know what a critical role professional development can play for both the educator's and student's success," said Lance Rougeux, senior vice president of curriculum, instruction, and student engagement at Discovery Education, and a former Philadelphia public school teacher, in a statement. "Discovery Education is proud to offer up these free professional development resources to all educators to sharpen their skills as they continue to nurture student curiosity."
