Discovery Education to Bring AI-Generated Assessments to Experience

Discovery Education is planning to add an AI-powered assessment tool to its Experience platform this fall.

The new tool, named "Assessment Generator AI," will be grounded in the company's educational content, which spans a variety of STEM subjects, as well as reading and social studies. Using its training data, it will help educators create "customized assessments tailored to meet learning objectives and state standards."

The technology behind Assessment Generator AI is based on Relay, an assessment solution that uses "AI-driven document extraction." Discovery Education acquired Relay from AI software developer Early Works.

In Discovery Education's hands, the tool will enable teachers to custom-create assessments "in seconds." The assessments can be tailored to fit specific reading levels, question types, and other factors. Users need no previous AI experience; the interface is easy to navigate.

"When available, Assessment Generator AI will merge our best-in-class content with cutting-edge AI technology to simplify assessment creation and save teachers time that they can now spend with students," said Brian Shaw, Discovery Education CEO, in a prepared statement.
