4 Ways Schools Are Using Google AI Tools for Teaching, Learning, and Administration

In a recent blog post, Google shared an array of education customer stories, showcasing ways schools and districts are using AI tools like Gemini and NotebookLM to transform both learning and administrative tasks.

At Chicago Public Schools, for example, staff are using Gemini's Gems feature to build AI curriculum reviewers that help evaluate curriculum development evidence guides and rubrics, Google shared. They're also using NotebookLM help them understand district guidance and policies, such as complex financial reporting requirements.

"NotebookLM and Gemini are helping people experiment with GenAI in exciting ways, transforming the way they work and allowing them to streamline tasks that would otherwise consume their time," commented Lorne Rodriguez, manager of enterprise generative AI for the district. "Knowing they are covered under our district licenses with Google allows CPS to encourage their use to revolutionize the way we educate our students."

Other examples include:

  • At Miami-Dade County Public Schools, teachers are using Gemini to create quizzes and answer keys, while students are using the tool to create personalized study materials and get additional help when a teacher is busy with another student.
  • Teachers at Albuquerque Public Schools are using Gemini to develop personalized lesson plans, as well as help with grant research and writing.
  • Teachers at the Ottawa Catholic School Board are using Gemini to create personalized learning experiences for students with different learning needs, such as special education, English as a second language, and advanced learners. In addition, students are using Gemini to explain concepts when they don't have a teacher, parent, or friend to help.
