Corpus Christi ISD Rolls Out eChalk Online Learning Environment

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Following a pilot program begun two years ago, Corpus Christi Independent School District in Texas has signed on with eChalk to deploy its Online Learning environment to every school in the district and on Corpus Christi ISD's site. The move will allow the district to share information online with students and parents and extend classroom instruction, while also providing a forum in which teachers can collaborate.

According to eChalk, the decision to deploy district-wide was based on successful results of the pilot program, in which the district was able to document positive impacts on student achievement, attendance, and discipline. Using the system, students and parents will be able to access homework assignments, resources, student grades, and other course materials online.

"eChalk will greatly expand our capacity to engage parents as partners," said Scott Elliff, Corpus Christi ISD's superintendent for schools. "Our stakeholders expect information about our schools to be readily available, and eChalk will help us meet that expectation."

The project is being funded in part by the Texas Education Agency.

Corpus Christi Independent School District serves about 39,000 students on 60 campuses, including 40 elementary schools and childhood development centers, 11 middle schools, six high schools, and other education centers.
