2009 Teach Award K-12 Grants Open

Nominations for the 2009 Best Buy Teach Awards are now open. The program will award $2 million in K-12 grants this year for the use of technology in ways that engage students in the classroom and help keep those students in school.
The Teach Awards recognize schools and districts for "exceptional, creative use of interactive technology in the classroom." Winners will be chosen based on the strengths of their current programs and their plans for expanding those programs in the following year.
Individual prizes will range from $1,000 to $5,000, and $10,000 will be awarded to up to 15 applicants whose programs focus on ninth-grade students. according to organizers. The program is open to all K-12 school, public or private, in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Since its launch, the Teach Awards program has granted $17 million to some 6,000 schools in the United States. Further information, including details of past winners and applications for this year's program, can be found here.
The deadline for entries for the 2009 program is October 12, 2008. Winners will be announced in March 2009.
