Promethean Introduces Updates to ActivPanel

The updated display from Promethean features externally accessible, upgradeable Android platform CPU and access to more than 500,000 apps.

Promethean, a provider of transformational interactive whiteboards, student response systems and digital teaching resources, is introducing several updates to its line of interactive displays, ActivPanel.

Promethean’s latest version of the ActivPanel is powered by an externally accessible, upgradeable Android platform central processing unit. ActivPanel features wireless and Bluetooth connectivity and offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Teachers and students can interact with the dynamic touchscreen by using tablet-like gestures, such as swipe, pinch or zoom. The display also provides access to more than 500,000 educational applications on the home screen and a digital pen tool.

With the purchase of a Promethean ActivPanel, schools will receive free use of ActivInspire, a teaching software, and ClassFlow, a collaborative teaching and learning software.

“The new Promethean ActivPanel has been completely re-imagined to function as a captivating, interactive display as well as the wirelessly accessible teaching and learning hub of the modern classroom,” said Vincent Young, CMO of Promethean, in a prepared statement. “By designing the ActivPanel with an externally accessible Android processor, the new Promethean ActivPanel can be easily upgraded over time to keep pace with frequent advances in computing technology.”

The new ActivPanel is available in both 70-inch and 80-inch sizes that offer HD1080p and ultra HD 2160p resolution. Mounting options, such as fixed, height-adjustable or a mobile stand, are available as well. ActivPanel will be available for purchase this July.
