Maine District Selects Combined SIS LMS Assessment Platform
Maine Regional School Unit (RSU) #74 plans to implement a combined student information system (SIS), learning management system (LMS) and assessment platform.
In May, the Maine Department of Education selected the Synergy Education Platform from Edupoint Educational Systems as the state-level student information and reporting system. By
providing the state with a centralized database to connect local and
state data systems, the Maine DoE hopes to improve reporting and data
accuracy, according to a news release. As part of the contract, state
administrative units now have the option to license the Synergy
Education Platform directly through the Department of Education at
pre-negotiated rates, and RSU #74 is the first school district in the
state to take advantage of that option.
"Maine's student data
represents one of the cornerstones for the Department of Education as
we try to make informed decisions on improving educational results,"
said Brian Snow, education data manager for the Maine Department of
Education, in a news release. "The Synergy product promises better
control of the quality of information collected, which can then ensure
better decisions."
RSU #74 selected Edupoint's cloud-hosted
option to reduce local IT costs and plans to implement numerous Synergy
Education Platform components, including Synergy SIS, TeacherVUE with
Gradebook, the ParentVUE and StudentVUE portals, LessonVUE curriculum
management and Synergy Assessment. According to information on the
company's site, features of the integrated system include online
registration, role-based mobile applications, standards-aligned
assessments and real-time analytics.
RSU #74 is planning to
implement the Synergy Education Platform in phases. The district
expects the Synergy SIS to be fully operational in August 2016.
