Virtual Naval Parade to Mark 75th Anniversary of End of WWII

A virtual parade of World War II naval vessels will take place on game-streaming service Twitch, to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of the war in Europe. With many in-person celebrations around the world canceled due to COVID-19 closures, World of Warships, an online combat game produced by WarGaming.Net, has organized the parade as an armchair substitute.

The parade will feature what the company referred to as "iconic Allied warships." The stream will include commentary from naval historian, James Hornfischer, and expert gamers, all of whom will present details about selected ships, provide historical context and highlight the ships' accomplishments during World War II.

During the parade, random prize drops for World of Warship players will occur, providing permanent camouflages and ships.

World of Warships, which is free to play, allows players to experience naval combat by choosing from among 200 actual WWI and WWII ships and putting them into battle scenarios around the world.

The event begins on May 6, 2020, at noon Eastern time. It will run on the World of Warships Twitch channel.
