Missouri HS Esports Association Joins National Federation

A high school esports association in Missouri is signing on as an affiliate to the North America Scholastic Esports Federation (NASEF). The Missouri High School Esports Association (MHSEA) has become an official statewide affiliate of NASEF, a nonprofit that runs competitions and training programs, helps set up afterschool clubs and develops esports curriculum. NASEF's activities and resources are available free.

MHSEA, which launched last year, has 50 participating schools around the state. Even under COVID-19 restrictions, association officials said, the league has continued to run esports practice and play online.

The Missouri association runs a mix of regional esports tournaments in Overwatch, League of Legends, Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Teams will also now participate in NASEF’s national events, which offer the promise of winning scholarships and school grants.

"NASEF and MHSEA share the same purpose of providing education to schools and students through esports, as well as providing access to as many students as possible," said Tony Gragnani, president of MHSEA and principal of Hickman High School, in a statement. "The future is bright for Missouri high school esports!"
