Panasonic Debuts New Videoconferencing Line

The new VisionSeries line boasts three videoconferencing technology highlights: group conferencing with high-quality pictures at 30 fps; a codec that interfaces to three BRI lines; and ability to broadcast to six sites without an MCU. Four models, ranging from a T1-capable group rollabout to a tabletop system, comprise the VisionSeries line. The two lower-end (50 and 100 models) have color cameras with 450 lines of resolution, auto-focus and pan/tilt; a microphone; special audio; and a 20" monitor or 27" monitor, respectively. The 300 and 500 models suit larger groups; have cameras capable of 600 lines of resolution plus a 27" monitor; and more. SRPs range from $15,000 to $31,000. Each system features Multi-Location Conferencing (MLC), which allows three simultaneous calls at 112/128 Kbps without a costly MCU. Plus an optional G.728 audio feature lets up to six calls be made in which all sites can see and hear the originating site. The codec for VisionSeries products has an optional interface card that facilitates connection to three BRI lines&emdash;SW56, T1 and PRI lines, allowing comprehensive interoperability. Its user interface is either a wired or wireless remote and on-screen menus. A variety of configurations are available.
