College Search SW Benefits Students

Students feel computerized college search programs are second only to a campus visit for gathering valuable college information, according to research conducted by Message Factors.

Nearly 90% of students who used CollegeView's College Search Function rated it "very useful," saying they prefer the software to attending college fairs or reviewing catalogs, brochures or videos.

The CollegeView CD-ROM for Mac or Windows lists vital information about thousands of colleges, including its academic program, size, location, ethnic balance and the division level of its sports programs. Some colleges accept electronic applications that can be completed while using the program.

In addition, the survey found that, after using the College Search Function, 90% of students added schools to their list of potential colleges and 94% planned to send applications to at least one of those schools.
