Electronic Directory Offers Maps & More

Currently installed in hundreds of universities, libraries and office buildings, the SelfInform Electronic Directory System displays maps, paths and text directions that guide users to specific areas within a facility. A digitized voice and Braille keyboard meet ADA requirements. New 14" and 17" VGA monitors have touchscreen surfaces that are totally flat. Monitors can be integrated into a variety of wall-mounted, vertical or horizontal enclosures. An unlimited number of Directory Stations may be connected to the central Data Entry Console via direct cable, modem or LAN. "Realview" maps use actual panoramic photos of interior space with graphically overlaid arrows to show directions. Other options include video and live TV display and continuous delivery of important announcements across the screen. Updating information requires no special skills or training. The Palos Verdes Library, for example, uses a SelfInform system to direct patrons to books and tell them about library procedures, special events, opportunities for donors and more.
