Institute Prepares Distance Educators

Since 1993, over 3,400 people have attended workshops, courses and academies sponsored by the Teletraining Institute. Services include instructor and administrator training, onsite-customized courses, course conversion, and content design and development.

Three courses are scheduled for April: Managerís Workshop explains all the dynamic elements involved in designing, equipping and operating a distance education network; Intro to Teletechniques introduces strategies for successful teletraining and electronic meetings; and Teletechniques I provides the resources needed to design and deliver programs at a distance.

Customized courses, meanwhile, may range in length from one day to one week and are tailored to an organizationís unique needs. These courses can be delivered onsite or via a telecommunications network. A minimum of 15 participants is suggested.

In addition, held throughout the year at the Instituteís training facility in Stillwater, Okla., the Academy [for Distance Learning] immerses attendees in a media-rich, distance education environment for two weeks. Its curriculum helps distance educators adapt content from existing courses, integrate multimedia and visual tools, encourage active learner involvement, and gauge progress by evaluation. Comprehensive support materials serve as reference aids for years to come.

The Teletraining Institute also offers a Certified Distance Learning Instructor (CDLI) Program, appropriate for those with at least three years or 100 hours of experience as a distance learning instructor. Teletraining Institute, Stillwater, OK, (800) 755-2356, www.teletrain.com.
