Dell Promotes Learning Outside of the Classroom Walls

To show their commitment to transform the learning environment with the use of technology, Dell Computer Corp. has launched the Learning with Latitude program. Although desktop computers have already become an important part of many classrooms, Learning with Latitude is designed to put notebook technology in the hands of students.

With Dell's new Latitude CPt notebook, students and parents will have portable access to homework assignments, tutorials, school news and other information, depending on the level of each school's participation. The Latitude CPt is designed to be kid-tough. (It's the only notebook line to survive PC Computing magazine's Annual Notebook Torture Test for four consecutive years.)

An agreement with Lucent Technologies will give program participants a wireless local area network (WLAN) notebook option, in conjunction with Microsoft Corp.'s Anytime Anywhere Learning initiative.

Learning with Latitude offers services and supports to help teachers, students and parents work together in expanding the educational process outside of the classroom. Dell Systems consultants and engineers can assist with the design and implementation of the systems and/or networks. Dell also assists in financing through Dell Financial Services.
