Gateway to Offer Linux and E-Support

Gateway is making available the Linux 6.0 operating system from Red Hat, Inc. as an option on models in the company's ALR Series line of servers.

End-users are offered broad support and training for the product. As an authorized reseller, Gateway will acquire licensing and factory install Red Hat Linux on qualified ALR server platforms.

Also along the Gateway front, institutions now have an automated fix for technical support problems on Gateway computers. The E-support Solution is made up of preloaded, automated system-repairing software and online diagnostic and computer maintenance programs that deliver technical support. Its capabilities will be phased in across the entire line of Gateway desktops, portables and servers. Gateway reports that all of its products will be E-support ready by the end of the year.
