Toshiba/NSTA Awards Program Helps Students Explore the Future

The year 2000 Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Awards Program is encouraging students to use their computers and work in teams to envision technologies 20 years into the future. Students are asked to design Web pages that illustrate their ideas for the future and to solve real-life problems. Twenty-four regional winning teams will be asked to create their own Web site based on their idea. The winning Web sites of eight finalists will be showcased on the official ExploraVision home page. In addition, the ExploraVision program will award the winning teams’ schools with Toshiba laptop computers, software and technical assistance. The program will include a new Honorable Mention Award category that will provide awards, gifts and recognition.

Each student on the four first-place teams will be awarded a $10,000 U.S. savings bond and second-place winners will each receive a $5,000 U.S. savings bond. The deadline to submit entries for the competition is February 2, 2000. For more information or an application, call (800)-EXPLOR-9. Toshiba Corp., New York, NY, (212) 596-0600, www.toshiba.com.
