Online Textbooks Save Trees

After a successful pilot program, netLibrary is introducing a series of digital course materials and e-books designed to be available online any time students need them. Without the assistance of proprietary software or CD-ROMs, students using netLibrary can easily download texts and digital files that are hyperlinked to their syllabi.

Materials can be stored on students’ computers or accessed from netLibrary’s servers and securely linked to other resources on the Internet. Some advantages of digital course materials and e-books include easy accessibility and portability, flexible content, multimedia functionality, and the ability to highlight and annotate electronic text. Researchers can pull quotations from e-books and create footnotes with greater ease and accuracy. NetLibrary Inc., Boulder, CO, (303) 381-8703, www.netLibrary.com.
