Student Online Announces Grant

TheInformation Technology Grant Program from Student Online offers highereducation institutions a limited number of grants designed to underwrite allexternal costs associated with the implementation of Student Online. Thisincludes all hardware, software and systems integration. Depending on the sizeof the institution, this grant can be worth up to $500,000.

 

Student Online works with institutions of higher educationto create revenue-generating intranet portals that facilitate academic andsocial communications without banner ads. The system features studentinformation systems (SIS) integration that includes online registration andgrade information, as well as Web-based financial aid and account information.Students and faculty can make use of an automatic Web organizer, Web-basede-mail, an inter-campus network, a course management system and more. The systemalso has full wireless capability.

 

The grant is intended for schools seeking to implement thesystem in the fall of 2000. Recipients of the grant will receive financial andorganizational assistance in integrating Student Online into their existingsystems and protocols for online and distance education, SIS software andadministrative computing, school Web properties, student-based Web publishing,e-commerce initiatives and inter-campus communication.
