Focus on Security

Balancing the benefits of technology with Internet and computer safety can be a difficult task. On the one hand, parents and educators want their children to have the wealth of information the Internet can provide in helping them succeed in school. On the other hand, hackers, Internet predators and sites containing inappropriate material can present quite a roadblock to accessing useful information. With Congress's recent approval of the Child Internet Protection Act (CIPA), software companies are responding to the demand for security products. While there are many programs to be found, we present a few in this month's Focus On.
