Phoenix Area District Deploys Crisis Management System

Maricopa Unified School District has installed the Rapid Responder crisis management system to provide information to police, fire, emergency medical and school security personnel in the event of a school emergency.

Rapid Responder, developed by Seattle-based Prepared Response, can instantly send floor plans, aerial imagery, evacuation plans and routes, and other relevant information to first responders via computer. Having such information can make the difference between safety and injury, and even life and death, in fires, bomb threats, school shootings and other emergency situations.

MUSD consists of nine school and administration enrolling grades K through 12. The district received a federal school safety grant in 2007 to install the Rapid Responder system.
