Epson Debuts 2 Ultra-Short-Throw Projectors for Educators
Epson has debuted two new short-throw projectors designed for classroom presentations. The PowerLite 450W and PowerLite 460 can be positioned a tight 2.5 inches from the wall and can accommodate a 60-inch image from just 18 inches away.
The two new projectors are especially suited for use with standard or interactive whiteboards, said Epson. The PowerLite 450W and 460 include closed captioning and a 10-watt speaker. They are networkable, so teachers can deliver presentations over the network, and wireless connectivity is available as an option.
Both projectors use 3LCD technology. The PowerLite 450W is specified at 2,500 lumens of brightness and WXGA resolution with 16:10 aspect ratio for widescreen presenting. The PowerLite 460 is specified at 3,000 lumens, with XGA resolution for 4:3 aspect ratio.
Other features include:
- Instant setup: Instantly projects images from a Mac OS X or Windows systems via a USB connection, eliminating the need for VGA cables and toggling between computer keys;
- Microphone input: Dedicated input allows teachers to use a microphone to amplify voice using the internal 10W speaker; and
- PC-free presentations: Offers convenient connectivity with USB memory devices such as a thumb drive for easily viewing and sharing JPEG pictures without a computer.
The PowerLite 450W carries a price tag of $1,499. The PowerLite 460 runs $1,699. Further information is available here.
