Vizio Debuts LED-Based HDTVs

A new line of high definition televisions, the XVT Pro Series, will soon be available from Vizio. The XVT Pro Series are 480 Hz SPS widescreen, 16:9, TruLED, full HD3D HDTVs, available in 72", 55", and 47" sizes. The company will also offer a 58" Cinema Wide HDTV that displays content in 21:9 aspect ratio.

These displays incorporate TruLED technology, which consists of LEDs that pervade the entire screen. They incorporate Smart Dimming circuitry that controls hundreds of zones of LEDs per screen to dictate the precise light level per picture frame, according to the company. In addition, the HD3D delivers 3D images in full 1080p resolution.

Another of the new technologies featured in the sets is the Vizio Internet Apps Connected HDTV platform, which provides a way of bringing Web-based content to the television. The connection is made via wireless 802.11n dual-band or via a wired connection. Control is provided with an included Bluetooth universal remote control with sliding QWERTY keyboard. Also, wireless HDMI allows a TV to receive HD video and audio from sources without an HDMI cable.

The full lineup includes:

  • 72" 480 Hz SPS TruLED full HD3D HDTV with 480 zones of Smart Dimming technology, built-in wireless HDMI and Vizio Internet Apps;
  • 58" Razor LED with Smart Dimming Cinema Display in 21:9 aspect ratio for viewing 2.35:1 films on a full screen (2,560 x 1,080) without black bars, along with built-in wireless HDMI and Vizio Internet Apps;
  • 55" 480 Hz SPS TruLED full HD3D HDTV with 120 zones of Smart Dimming technology with built in wireless HDMI and Vizio Internet Apps; and
