Miami-Dade District Offers Identity Theft Protection Service as Benefit

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS), one of the largest districts in the country, will be offering a new identity theft protection service as an employee benefit. The deal with ID Watchdog will allow 70,000 district employees, retirees, and family members to select the company's identity theft protection, detection, and resolution services as a part of an employee benefit package that also includes more traditional benefits such as health, dental, vision, and life insurance.

ID Watchdog monitors databases, including credit, financial, criminal history, motor vehicle, medical, tax, Social Security, telephone and utility records, and Internet surveillance, to detect potential identity crimes. When something is discovered affecting a subscriber, the company provides containment and resolution services.

"Identity theft continues as the fastest growing crime in America, and given the current state of the economy, shows no signs of slowing down any time soon," said Rosa Novo, coordinator of benefits at the district. "ID Watchdog will be an invaluable tool for keeping our employees, retirees, and their families safe. We owe it to our employees to provide them with only the best service, and we found ID Watchdog to be the most comprehensive service and the best overall value."
