Cloud-Based Learning System Adds Office Web Apps

Ed tech company it's learning is adding Microsoft Office Web Apps and Outlook Live to its electronic learning platform.

The platform, also called it's learning, is a cloud-based learning management system for K-12 and post-secondary institutions that includes collaborative learning and teaching tools, content creation and management features, course planners, formative assessments, gradebook features, audio and video conferencing, multimedia-enabled discussion boards, social media tools, ePortfolios, and various administrative tools.

Through a new partnership with Microsoft, the service is adding Outlook Live via Microsoft's Live@edu service, along with Microsoft's Office Web Applications. Live@edu is Microsoft's portal, communications, and collaboration suite for education. The Office Web Apps collection comprises browser-based versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.

The new services will begin rolling out onto the it's learning platform "within the next few months" at no additional charge to current users. it's learning currently has about 2 million user accounts globally, according to information released by the company last week. Professional development, hosting, storage, and other services are provided by the company.
